This guide walks you through generating your first Coach report and acting on it.

Before you start

  • Log in to your FocusMe account (Coach requires one).
  • Let FocusMe run for at least two days so there is activity to analyse — Coach won’t generate a report with less. A full week is better.

1. Enable Coach

Click Coach in the sidebar. The first time, the Enable Coach dialog explains that Coach needs anonymous usage data, stored under a random token that cannot be traced back to you. Click Yes, Enable.
You can switch this off again at any time with Coach & Anonymous Data Collection in Settings → System.

2. Tell the coach about yourself

Click Add context. Either type a sentence or two (“I work from home, I want to cut social media during work hours, I use FocusMe on my laptop too”) or click Setup wizard to answer five quick questions. If you use Tasks, leave Include Tasks (recommended) and Include Plans (recommended) ticked under Advanced so the coach can see what you’re trying to achieve and how your current plans are performing.

3. Generate the report

Choose a period from the date dropdown — Last 7 Days is a good first choice — and click Generate Report. If FocusMe asks for a Personal update or What are you working on?, add a line or two and click Generate Full Report. FocusMe uploads any pending activity, then analyses it. This can take up to a minute.

4. Act on it

  1. Read the headline and the key findings — they tell you where the biggest opportunity is.
  2. Scroll to SUGGESTED CHANGES. For each suggestion, click Apply to preview and confirm it (a new plan is created in the Plans tab, a task in the Tasks tab), or Decline with a short reason so the coach doesn’t repeat it.
  3. Use ASK YOUR COACH at the bottom to ask follow-up questions about the report, such as “Which plan should I start with?”
  4. Answer Was this report helpful? — feedback is anonymous and improves future reports.
Apply one recommendation at a time. Run it for a week, then generate a new report for the same period length and compare.

5. Keep it going

Click the gear (Coach settings) and set Reminder to run Coach Report to Weekly or Weekdays. FocusMe will generate reports in the background and notify you when each one is ready. Tick Auto-generate full reports while I keep reading them to receive full reports rather than short previews for as long as you keep opening them.
