Short-form video is engineered for endless scrolling. Here is how to block just the Shorts feed while keeping regular videos, search and channels available.
Quickest route: click the FocusMe addon icon in your browser toolbar and tick Block YouTube Shorts in the popup. The steps below do the same thing through a plan, so you can schedule and protect it.

Block YouTube Shorts only

Step 1 What to block, with a partial URL entry on the block list

  1. Click Add a Plan and name the plan
  2. On What to block, stay on the Websites tab, type youtube.com/shorts into the add row and click Add
  3. Click the new row to open its inline editor and check that the type is URL and the match is Contains
  4. Click Next and choose a schedule, pick a How strict preset, then click Create & Enable on Review
With a Contains match, youtube.com/shorts catches the Shorts feed and every individual Short (youtube.com/shorts/abc123). Ordinary pages such as youtube.com/watch?v=... are not affected because the entry includes the path.

Catch Shorts by page title

YouTube also surfaces Shorts on the home page and in search results. To catch them wherever they appear, add a second entry that matches the page title:
  1. Type Shorts into the add row and click Add
  2. Click the row and change its type to Keyword
A Keyword entry matches both the page address and the page title, so any tab whose title contains “Shorts” is blocked.
Keyword matching is broad. Make sure the word does not appear in the titles of pages you need. If it does, stick to the URL approach above.
