The extension communicates with the desktop app via a local connection (native messaging). The desktop app must be running for the extension to work.

Troubleshooting

Extension not connecting

  1. Make sure the FocusMe desktop app is running
  2. Try restarting your browser
  3. Check that the extension is enabled in your browser’s extension settings
  4. On Windows, FocusMe registers the native messaging host automatically during installation. If it’s missing, reinstalling FocusMe should fix it.
