Timer Window

The Timer Window is a small, always-on-top floating window that shows a plan’s current status and countdown. It keeps you aware of your plan without opening the main FocusMe window, and its right-click menu lets you control the plan directly.

What it shows

Element	Description
Countdown	The time remaining in the current session, break, delay or time limit. It can sit on the left or right, and can hide the seconds.
Ring	A countdown ring beside the time, showing how far through the current period you are. Its icon says what the plan is doing: a session, a break, a time limit, standby, paused and so on.
Logo and plan name	The FocusMe logo and the plan the timer belongs to. Either can be hidden.
Status text	What the countdown means, for example Session, Time limit, Screen break in, Focus until … break, Break, Until session start, Blocked, Paused, Postpone left, Waiting or Stopping in. Shown on the Large size.
Additional text	A second line with detail such as Pomodoro 2 of 4 or how often screen breaks come. Shown on the Large size.
Pomodoro dots	On a Pomodoro plan, one dot per pomodoro in the run.
Action icons	Small pause/resume, stop and hide icons on the timer face.

Each plan has its own Timer Window, so several can be on screen at once.

States

Active — the countdown runs on the timer’s normal card.
Delay — while a Quick Timer plan waits for its Delay before start, the window is greyed out and labelled Delay.
Standby / inactive — outside the plan’s scheduled hours the ring turns grey.
Paused — the countdown greys out and the resume icon replaces the pause icon.
Waiting for user — on a Pomodoro plan with Wait for User on, a banner reading Start Break or Start Focus appears; click it to begin the next phase.
Break — on Pomodoro and Screen Break plans the card takes on a lighter break tint.

Right-click the timer to open its menu. Items appear according to the plan type and state, and anything that would loosen a protected plan is left out:

Item	Description
Add 5 minutes / Add 10 minutes / Add 15 minutes / Add 30 minutes	Lengthen the current session. On a Quick Timer plan the session is extended; on a Pomodoro plan the current focus or break phase is extended.
Resume	Resume a paused plan.
Pause	Pause the plan, subject to its pause protection.
Stop	Stop the plan, subject to its stop protection.
Skip to Break	Pomodoro only, during a focus phase: jump straight to the break.
Skip to Focus	Pomodoro only, during a break: end the break and start the next focus phase.
Restart Session	Restart the current phase: a Quick Timer goes back to its full duration and a Pomodoro phase starts again from the beginning.
Hide Timer	Hide this plan’s timer window. Show it again from the plan’s context menu.

Pause and Stop follow the plan’s protection exactly as they do from the Plans tab — a Random or Password challenge appears if one is set.

Showing and hiding

Method	How
Per plan	In the Plan Wizard, open Review → Options and tick or untick Show Timer. The plan start dialogs for Quick Timer, Pomodoro and Multi-Day plans also have a Show timer checkbox.
Context menu	Right-click a running plan in the Plans tab and choose Hide Timer or Show Timer.
From the timer	Click the × on the timer, or right-click it and choose Hide Timer.
Automatically	Turn on Smart Timer Display in Settings → Appearance to show timers only while they are actively in use, for example while a time limit is counting down or a session is in progress.

Behaviour

Always on top — the timer floats above other windows. On macOS it is visible on every Space.
Draggable — click and drag to move it; FocusMe remembers the position. Timer Position in Settings picks the corner new timers open in.
Per plan — each plan’s timer is independent.

Customisation

Everything about the timer’s appearance lives in Settings → Appearance, shared with FocusMe’s notifications:

Setting	Description
Style	Default (FocusMe blue), Light, Minimal or High contrast.
Size	Small (a compact pill without the plan name), Medium (adds the plan name) or Large (adds the status and additional text lines).
Opacity	How see-through the timer is, from 100% down to 50%.
Progress	Ring or None.
Show Seconds on Timers	Show seconds in the countdown, or round to the minute.
Timer Position	The corner new timers open in. Changing it moves every timer there.
Smart Timer Display	Only show the timer when it is actively in use.
Show FocusMe Logo	Show or hide the logo.
Show Plan Name	Show or hide the plan name.
Show Status Text	Show or hide the status line.
Show Additional Text	Show or hide the second information line.
Show Action Icons	Show or hide the icons on the timer face.
Countdown Font Size	16–40.
Info Font Size	8–16.
Countdown Position	Left or Right.

The Timer Window is especially useful for Time Limit and Pomodoro plans, where knowing the remaining time helps you pace your work.
