How to Partially Block Websites

It is easy for FocusMe to block whole websites, but what if you want to still access a part of a website while blocking the rest of it?

This guide will show you two ways to partially block websites: Allowing parts of a website and blocking parts of it.

The first scenario would be to allow in general but block particular subreddit such as

For the second scenario, we will show you how to block all pages on with the exception of

Creating the Focus Plan

The first thing you do is either create a new plan or edit an existing one. To create a new plan, hit the “Add Plan” button on the upper right. To edit an existing plan, you can either right-click on the plan and select “Edit Plan” or hit the respective ellipsis on the right.

Type the name of the Focus plan (for editing existing plans, the name shows up here) then hit “Next”.

The Websites page (2/6) is where you add websites to allow or block. The Blocklist tab is where you add websites to block, while the Allowlist tab is where you put in websites you would still like to allow.

Scenario 1 – Blocking Parts of the Website

Simply add the URL/s of the subreddit(s) you want blocked on the Blocklist (in this scenario, you want to block )

Tip: You should not add in the Allowlist tab. The allowlist always takes priority over the blocklist, so that would effectively disable your rule.

Make sure you’re in the Blocklist tab and then click “Add Site”.

Go to the Custom tab and type in the URL/s you want to block (In this case, Set the type to “URL” and then click “Done” when done.

Your Blocklist should look something like this:

That’s it for Scenario 1. The next part is a bit more complicated but is really not that hard once you know what you’re doing.

Scenario 2 – Allowing Parts of a Website

On the Blocklist tab, click the “Add Site” button.

Go to the Custom tab and add “” (without the quotes) and set the type to “URL”. Then click “Done”.

Now go to the Allowlist tab and click on “Add Site”.

This is where you add in the page/s you still want to access ( that is inside a blocked website (

Go to the Custom tab and put in “” (without the quotes), set the type to “URL”, then hit “Done”.

Going through both Blocklist and Allowlist tabs, it should look like below (please note the types):

Set the rest of the wizard according to your preferences. Once finished, click on “Done” to save your Focus plan.

What scenario does is to block the whole website but would still allow you to access

Note: the Allowlist tab takes priority over the Blocklist tab. This means if you add the same website on both the Blocklist and Allowlist tabs, the Allowlist function wins and you would still be able to access this website.
