# Android

> The phone setting that gives FocusMe the best performance on each Android brand.

FocusMe for Android is a separate app from the desktop one, and its plans sync with your desktop
plans when you sign in with the same account.

## Set up your phone for FocusMe

Most phone makers add their own battery saver or phone manager, and FocusMe works at its best when
that manager gives it unrestricted access. It is a phone setting rather than a FocusMe setting, it
takes a moment to change, and it only needs doing once.

On phones we recognise, FocusMe opens the right screen for you: in FocusMe, go to
**Settings > Phone settings for FocusMe**. The same prompt appears on the Accessibility permission
screen when you first set the app up.

## The setting, by brand

Menu names move between Android versions, so look for the nearest match on your phone.

On every phone it also helps to open **Settings > Apps > FocusMe > Battery** and choose
**Unrestricted**.

## If something is not right

Change the setting above first and give it a day. If FocusMe still does not behave as you expect,
[contact support](https://focusme.com/contact-us/) and say which phone you have and its Android
version. FocusMe keeps a diagnostic log that makes this quick to look into: in FocusMe, open
Settings, tap the version row five times, turn the log on, and send it to us the next time you
notice anything.
