# Import & Export Plans

> Save plans to files and import them on other devices — for backups, sharing, and migration.

FocusMe lets you export plans to `.FMP` files and import them on another device or installation. This is useful for backups, sharing plans with others, or migrating to a new computer.

## Enable Import/Export

Import and export must be enabled in Settings before you can use it:

1. Open **Settings** → **System** tab
2. Enable the **Import/Export** toggle
3. The export and import options now appear in the plan context menu

<Info>If you don't see Import or Export in the right-click menu, check that Import/Export is enabled in Settings > System.</Info>

## Exporting a Plan

1. Right-click the plan you want to export
2. Select **Export**
3. Choose a location to save the `.FMP` file
4. The plan configuration is saved to the file

The `.FMP` file contains the complete plan configuration including targets, schedule, plan type, and protection settings.

## Importing a Plan

1. Right-click anywhere in the Plans list
2. Select **Import**
3. Browse to and select the `.FMP` file
4. The plan is added to your Plans list

<Tip>If you have no plans yet, right-click the empty area of the Plans list to access the Import option.</Tip>

## Use Cases

| Scenario | How |
| --------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Backup** | Export important plans to a safe location before making changes or reinstalling |
| **Share with others** | Export a plan and send the `.FMP` file to a friend, colleague, or family member |
| **Migrate devices** | Export plans from your old computer and import them on your new one |
| **Team deployment** | Create a standard plan and distribute the `.FMP` file to team members |

## Notes

* Exported files contain plan **configuration only** — not usage statistics, history, or account data
* Protection passwords are included in the export, so handle `.FMP` files carefully
* If you're logged in with plan sync enabled, consider using [cloud sync](/guides/login-and-sync) instead for automatic cross-device sync
